A souvenir disc of the reunion events was sent to all who attended one or more of the happenings. Glad to report that the response was terrific with calls coming in from all parts of the country. Identification of the pictures was a monumental undertaking since our classmates looked much younger than their high school pictures. The entire reunion committee thanks you for your kind words and emails.


 The IHS Scholarship & 2011 Awards

To the Class of 1959:  The 2011 Awards Ceremony took place on June 19, 2011 at our High School.  Go to www.ihsasmf.com our scholarship / mentoring fund web site, which provides commentary on the award winners, the event itself, photographs of the recipients and background of the scholarship program. As the representative of the Class of 1959, I couldn’t have been more proud of our participation and of the proceedings. The award winners are dedicated, delightful students who have worked very hard both academically and as community volunteers. I met the award winners from previous years as well, and as a former teacher and administrator, I can attest to the wonderful choices your committee has made in selecting its recipients. The committee is comprised of class representatives of 1960, 1961, 1962, and of course 1959. Other classes have expressed an interest in joining and this will allow the scholarship / mentoring program to continue. Our scholarship is not just for one year, but for four years if the student maintains satisfactory grades and has the recommendation of his/her professors. Therefore, each recipient has the potential to receive $4,000 over the course of his/her academic career. What a truly wonderful legacy. In the Fall you will receive a letter of solicitation to continue the legacy by asking for a small contribution to allow the Class of 1959 to maintain its dedication to the scholarship program. Any class member who wishes to attend the awards ceremony or to assist with the selection of recipients is more than welcome to participate. Just email Ilene at ibskolnik@aol.com.
